Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom has signed an agreement with Ericsson to set up a small test LTE network by next March. The operator will also be setting up a trial with another unnamed supplier for comparison.

MTN Uganda is to seek a court ruling overturning the imposition of new interconnection rates by the telecoms regulator. The operator argues that the rates should be decided by negotiation and not be imposed arbitrarily by the regulator. The operator also argues that the new rates are below actual costs.

Philippines based Bayan Telecommunications has launched a Kirusa supplied Voice SMS service for both its fixed line and wireless landline subscribers. This is the first ever deployment of Convergent Voice SMS in Philippines wherein fixed line and wireless landline subscribers can send and receive Voice SMS messages.

Australia's Optus has announced a four year $160 million agreement to provide local mobile service reseller, Dodo with wholesale mobile, voice and mobile broadband services.

MTN Cyprus has launched a triple-play service combining mobile, landline and internet access. Subscribers signing up to an 18-month contract are also able to purchase a Lenovo laptop computer at a subsidized price.

Following power cuts in Fiji, Vodafone opened up its retail outlets to allow subscribers to recharge their mobile phones using Vodafone's power supply.
